Toronto's process, handled for you.
After a crash in Toronto, a car towed from the scene has to go to a Collision Reporting Centre before it goes anywhere else. We know both CRCs well, we make that stop part of the tow, and then we take your vehicle to your mechanic, dealer or body shop. You get damage photos and an itemized invoice for your insurance claim.
You pick the tow company and where your car goes. Ontario law guarantees that, and we respect it on every Toronto call.

Your first steps after a crash
Take a breath and go through these steps. They keep you safe and protect your claim.
Check everyone is okay
Call 911 if anyone is hurt, or if you suspect impaired driving or a stolen vehicle.
Move out of traffic
If it’s safe and the cars can move, pull off the road and put your hazards on.
Swap details
Every driver’s name, phone, licence, plate, insurer and policy number.
Photograph everything
Damage on all vehicles, the intersection, signs and the other driver’s documents.
Pick your own tow
Call a company you trust. You can say no to any truck that shows up uninvited.
Report it at a CRC
Ontario requires a report when damage is over $5,000. In Toronto, most are made at a CRC.
Toronto Police require vehicles towed from a collision scene to go straight to a Collision Reporting Centre. We include that stop in your tow.

Toronto's two reporting centres.
Ontario requires you to report a collision to police when someone is injured, when the combined damage is over $5,000, or when public or private property is damaged. In Toronto, drivers make most of these reports at one of two Collision Reporting Centres.
Our yard on Millwick Drive in North York is close to the Toronto North CRC, so the required drop-off doesn’t add a long, expensive detour. For crashes in the east end, we take you to the Toronto East CRC in Scarborough.
Collision on the 401, 400, 404 or 427? Those highways are patrolled by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), who handle the report.

Your rights at a Toronto crash.
Since January 1, 2024, Ontario’s Towing and Storage Safety and Enforcement Act (TSSEA) has protected drivers at collision scenes, including on Toronto’s busiest roads, where uninvited tow trucks used to be a common problem.
We follow these rules on every call, and you should know them before you sign anything.
- You decide who tows your vehicle and where it goes.
- No one can charge you without your signed Consent to Tow.
- You get the company's maximum rate schedule before you sign.
- Charges can't be higher than the rates filed with the Ministry of Transportation.
- You get an itemized invoice before paying, and you choose how to pay.
- You can take your personal belongings out of your vehicle at no charge.
- Tow trucks must show the company name and certificate number.
